The government-owned mobile service provider Nepal Telecom will soon begin testing 5G. On the occasion of the English year 2023, the organization will try this service out from the Babarmahal and Sundhara of Kathmandu.

According to Sobhan Adhikari, a representative for Nepal Telecom, the 5G trial is going to begin roughly two years after the regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority has given its approval.

Before the test can begin, all required equipment needs to be thoroughly tested. He added while the House of Representatives and state elections were taking place, we needed to focus our technical resources on providing essential election support. The test has therefore been postponed. On January 1st, the testing will begin in Kathmandu, he declared. According to him, the testing of equipment is currently being done.

A 2600 MHz frequency has been made available by the authority for testing. The spokesperson informed us that the test will start from this frequency. He claimed that there was a strategy to use the test’s findings moving forward, initially for commercial ones.
